Hello!

My name is Rhianna, and I’m a list of things, but at the moment I’d like to be considered a, ‘world traveller, and romantic naturalist.’ Gosh that’s a bit of a mouthful. After reading, Darwin, The Voyage of the Beagle, and discovering that one of the people onboard the ship had this job title, I have since been envious. So I’m copying it.

Welcome to my blog. This is going to be an eclectic mismatch of things, but the primary focus is going to be solo, female, global travel. I’ve been to at least 45 countries, over 300 cities, spanning five continents. I have been lucky enough to visit most countries more than once, and have experienced a lot of them solo – well as solo as solo travel can be (hint: not very solo at all).

I plan to share my experiences (good, bad, and crazy), with you for either your enjoyment, or perhaps to inspire you to get out there, Wild Girl:

the world is waiting!

I often get messages on Instagram from people asking for travel advice, or inspiration, and so this is going to act as a place to direct people, and also as a kind of diary for me; whilst also acting as an outlet to combine my two most favourite things: words and travel.

Why the name, “Get Gone, Wild Girl?”

The answer to this is very simple. If ever I didn’t want to do something as a child, my Mum would say, “Oh get gone, girl!” Which would be followed by something along the lines of, “You won’t drown!” It is this ‘can do’ attitude that I love most about my Mumma. As someone who struggles with different anxieties, this simple advice rationalises any psychological fear. Just get on with it. I was very shy as a little girl, and I have grown so much (height-wise too…). I am proud of myself. I have embraced my wild. I want to help you get gone, and to find your wild too. We’ve got this!

Sat in Bariloche, Argentina on a perfect sunny day.
